Meet Selena Li Wenqing, Business Development Director, Industrial Asia – AtkinsRéalis. Based in Seoul, Selena plays a key role in helping global companies navigate expansion into some of the region's most complex markets.
What's your role at AtkinsRéalis, and what trends are you seeing across industrial sectors in Asia?
In my ten years with AtkinsRéalis, I've worked with companies across sectors and regions – each with their own priorities, pressures, and expectations. As Business Development Director for Industrial Asia, based in Seoul, I work at the forefront of client growth – helping organizations expand into complex and unfamiliar markets across the region.
Asia is a strategic growth region for industries like pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries. But while the opportunities are significant, so are the risks. What are the biggest priorities for manufacturers in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and semiconductors?
Priorities vary depending on the sector and the local market. In the semiconductor sector, speed often comes first. In other sectors, like pharmaceuticals or fine chemicals, compliance and safety are non-negotiable. Many project sponsors work with tight budgets, but flexibility and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals still matter. No matter the challenge, the one thing that stays consistent is the need for reliable delivery.
